Weave A Shawl Weekend – With yarn spun for you

Weave a Shawl Weekend in Montgomery, with Lea.

£ 450.00

Description

A creative course (can be midweek instead of a weekend if you prefer) for complete beginners – either as personal one to one tuition, or come with your friends or family (just book extra places through the same listing for more than one person).

Arrive to a peaceful weaving workshop in the beautiful Welsh hills, to a collection of hand spun yarns and art yarns, and hand dyed yarns, to work from to make your shawl during the course, in the colours you choose from what I have available.

Before you arrive your warp will have been made especially for you, and the loom will be threaded and set up for you, ready for you to get straight into the creative fun of weaving your shawl.

Learn how to work with the yarns to create your own unique heirloom shawl, learning a variety of creative weaving techniques, which you can work with to add to your creation if you would like to.

The price includes all of the hand crafted yarns to make your shawl with, the warping, threading, and setting up of the loom before your arrival, tuition and guidance, and allowing plenty of quiet weaving time for you to work on your shawl.
This course can be two full days and evenings, or can be spread over three or more days if you would like to allow yourself more time to weave a full length shawl. Some of the time will be for learning how to weave, and new techniques, and lots of time for quiet focussed weaving in the studio to complete your creation.

Finish the weekend with a session on hand finishing your shawl, and setting the weave, and the delight of seeing your own cloth coming off the loom. The size of your whole finished shawl will be approximately 180 x 35 cms.

To make your shawl to this full length, please be aware that it takes a lot of weaving hours to complete. If you would prefer more time to complete your shawl at a slower pace for more relaxation time between weaving, please do contact me to request a longer course than the two days listed here.

There is a beautiful farm cottage on site here for you to book for your course if you wish (it can be mid week if you prefer). The cottage is located next to the studio.

If you fall in love with hand weaving, and would love to take home your own loom, we have Ashford looms and other equipment available in the shop, as well as yarns and handmade tools.

– Tuition and guidance.
– All hand spun yarns, art yarns, and hand dyed yarns.
