One Magical forest spindle for hand spinning yarns.
I have hand crafted each clay whorl, and Luke has hand turned each spindle from natural wood. I have hand embellished each one with details, for extra magic as you spin your creations 🙂
These spindles work together with a distaff, for in hand spinning.
They are approximately 30 – 32 cms length.
The holes in the whorls are crafted at a slight angle, to fit onto a turned wood spindle. They will be pushed on firmly before packing, but I don’t glue them on so that they can be changed for other weights if you ever wish to. It’s best to regularly check that they are firmly in place, especially if you have removed the whorl, on mine I push it onto the spindle well, so that it doesn’t fall off easily. I also work with my spindles standing or sitting on soft ground, a sheepskin, rug or grass, so that if the whorl isn’t pushed onto the spindle enough then it’s less likely to break if it falls off.
Each spindle is completely one of a kind, a totally unique and little piece of earth magic and woodland art for you to work with to create yours!
